Jewellery Care
CARING FOR YOUR SILVER JEWELLERY
I only use 100% recycled, nickel-free, fully annealed silver for all my work.
Like any metals, silver can still darken (oxidise) over time through exposure to different environments. But taking care of your silver jewellery will ensure it oxidises at a slower rate, staying sparkly for longer!
To prevent oxidisation and abrasion follow these simple care notes:
1) Store your jewellery in its gift bag/box when not in use.
2) Clean with a clean cloth gently after each wear to remove grease, salts, make-up, and other dirt build-up.
3) Avoid wearing your silver in bed, when bathing or when washing up/cleaning.
4) Clean occasionally with a good quality silver polish such as Silvo.
5) For a deeper clean, soak your item for a few moments in lukewarm (not hot) water with a squeeze of dish soap, then use a soft-bristled brush to remove any dirt. Rinse in running lukewarm (never hot) water and dry carefully with a soft cloth.
NB: Always check gemstones are safe in water before you use this method. Stones such as Selenite should always be kept dry.
6) For oxidised silver items please be aware that traditional silver polishes may remove finish. Instead, use a good quality wax polish (I use Renaissance Micro-crystalline Polish) and a soft cloth to bring the shine back to your piece.
