100% recycled sterling silver with peridot 'berries'. 18" sterling silver trace chain included.
Once widespread, the wild service tree is now confined to a few ancient woodland sites in the UK. It requires open canopies, so its largest threat is under- or mis-managed woodlands which grow too dense to support it.
Although not endangered outside of the UK - there are steady numbers in Continental Europe - they are very rare here, meaning several pollinator species who rely in its fruit and berries (known as 'chequers') to get by, are also suffering as a result.
NB: Peridot is a mineral olivine - avoid wearing next to your skin if you are allergic to olivine. If skin sensitivity occurs, wash effected area with warm water and a gentle cleanser.
Service trees support a massive range of wildlife including leafcutter bees, stag beetles, winter moths, nuthatches, mice and woodpeckers.
Fun fact: before hops was cultivated, service tree fruits were used to flavour beer.
