V-moths have distinctive black markings on their grey wings.  Their caterpillars love plonking themselves down to eat on ribes fruit bushes, such as redcurrants, blackcurrants and gooseberries.  As a result they've gained a reputation as a garden pest.  Not only are fewer people growing their own fruit nowadays, meaning suitable feeding places and wildlife corridors are fewer, but also, increased use of insecticides and pesticides are posing a huge threat to moth numbers.  

Fun fact: the v-moth's Latin name is 'macaria wauaria' (or as I like to call them, 'Macca-wowows'!).
